Alternative Dispute Resolution

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is the process of resolving legal conflicts without going to trial. Our attorneys represent clients in mediations and arbitrations on an ongoing basis. We have extensive expertise in determining when a form of ADR is in the best interest of clients and meets their needs better than traditional litigation, and we routinely advise our clients on the legal consequences flowing from particular terms and conditions of ADR options.

Appellate Work

Appellate courts are different from trial courts. They apply certain standards of review to rulings made by a trial court. Righeimer & Tassi has an experienced civil appellate practice and is familiar with the legal rules and principles applied by the appellate courts. In the event our clients find themselves in court, Righeimer & Tassi can handle their civil matters from inception, to jury verdict, through appeal.

Business Law

Righeimer & Tassi knows our clients’ legal needs do not end once the business is up and running. To the contrary, we continue to provide clients with a variety of legal services from drafting and reviewing leases and independent contractor agreements to assisting with hiring and firing policies and preparation of employee handbooks. We draft employment documents of all types which are designed to fulfill an employer’s obligations under the law and to anticipate issues that arise in the workplace.

The firm provides advice and assistance with respect to maintaining independent contractor status and protecting your liability from third parties. We can also provide assistance with investigations of employee misconduct and other pertinent employment-related subjects. We represent employers and employees both in court and in administrative proceedings.

Company Formation and Consulting

Righeimer & Tassi recognizes that not all businesses are the same. For this reason, we take the time to learn as much as possible about our clients’ business in order to determine the optimal business structure for each client’s individual circumstances.  We are a small and personable firm that understands the needs of small business. It is our goal to educate and listen to our clients so that we can reduce their stress and uncertainty in confronting complicated and often confusing legal issues.

Corporate Counsel

The firm has an extensive practice representing business entities that rely on Righeimer & Tassi to assist with a full range of legal services to protect their corporate standing. We help our business clients comply with the myriad of rules required to maintain their corporate status and protect the privilege of limited liability. We routinely advise clients on the required documents and actions needed to preserve their business entity and comply with all applicable rules.

Equine Law

As a lifelong horse lover, owner and competitor, Christine Righeimer understands the wide range of issues that confront owners, professionals and businesses in the equine industry. Equine businesses face many of the same challenges as other businesses, but often overlook the legal steps necessary to properly set up their business and protect their liability. As both a horse owner and a lawyer, Christine is personally familiar with equine-related matters and with current Illinois equine law. She has represented clients in numerous equine matters both in and out of the courtroom and enjoys merging her love of horses with her knowledge of the law.

Litigation

The firm has an active litigation practice representing individuals and businesses involved in contract, employment and other related disputes. We have substantial courtroom experience and pride ourselves on our thorough knowledge of the rules of law.

In some cases, Righeimer & Tassi is brought in before a suit is filed in an effort to assess the facts and decide if litigation is appropriate. In other cases, clients hire the firm to defend them in actions once a complaint has already been filed. In either case, Righeimer & Tassi is dedicated to protecting their clients’ best interests and resolving their disputes.
